WAKEFIELDWOMBLE GOES WING WALKING - MUST BE STUPID! (but not as stupid as chucking yourself out of the plane at 13,500 feet)

There I was sat in the Wimbledon Theatre voting in favor of purchasing the lease on Kingsmeadow Stadium and the next thing I know I seem to have 'volunteered' to do a wing walk to raise funds for the Stadium Fund.  There I was making phone calls and sending emails and not knowing a bloody thing about when, where or how.

Then I had a good idea, my Mum has been raising funds for the Kent Air Ambulance for years so she must have a few contacts.  I phoned her and as I thought she knew someone who had done a wing walk and she'd make a couple of enquiries.  While waiting for the call back I did some surfing and found the websites and contacts I needed.  Few minutes later the phone rang and it was my Mum with some info, as it turned out she was telling me what I had just found out myself.

A phone call was made to Aerosuperbatics Ltd and an information pack sent out.  Seems things ain't quite as easy as I expected and there are a few problems to resolve but I will overcome them somehow.

So what exactly are the problems to be overcome? Well, the first being a wing walker has to weigh less than 13 stones which means I need to lose a whole stone.

Under the rules of the Federal Aviation Authority a potential wing walker must join the AeroSuperBatics Club.  This costs the princely sum of £495.00 which is why I have been in contact with a few potential corporate sponsors.  I have been told that if I can arrange enough media coverage of the event I will get a refund but I have not been told that officially.

Apart from the winter the Uttterly Butterly team don't arrange flights at the weekends due to their own displays which means I'm gonna have to take a holiday from work.

The team is based at RFC Rendcomb Airfield in Cirencester which will probably mean I will be looking for overnight accommodation.  Any Dons living in the area with a spare room?

Other than that, no problems at all (I hope)

I have approached a number of companies regarding donations/sponsorship without much response so far.  One of those companies is my own employers, the others are South London based and their identities will only be revealed with their permission.  I will continue to contact other potential corporate sponsors during the spring and summer.

I am now able to accept donations via PayPal if you have an account.  If you don't why not open one today by clicking on the logo below.  To send donations my email address is wakefieldwomble@blueyonder.co.uk  Please use the subject heading 'Wing Walk'

I accept payment through PayPal!, the #1 online payment service!

The plan is to arrange the wing walk for the end of August or beginning of September, more will be known nearer the time.  I would like to arrange the date to coincide with a home game so I'll have to wait for next seasons fixture list to be published.

12 April:  As I said earlier a wing walker must be under 13 stone.  I have been dieting before the vote to buy the lease and I am now down to 13.6 from 14 stone.  It is slow but it will be worth it in the end.

If you have a website of your own I would appreciate it if you would provide a link to this website from your own, a reciprocal link will naturally be given.  I will send you a banner by email if you wish it.
